Zines
Tales of tragedy, loneliness & snacks
The Flight Path of the Legless Plastic Pink Flamingo
In March 2018 I began documenting statues in the St Kilda. By November 2019 I had enough shots to make a book and began mapping the location of each statue.

Gnomes
A candid series of photos taken at the time unearthed much aberrant behaviour between the gnomes, highlighting the many stressors within their community, undoubtedly exacerbated by the fact they are all MALE!

Call Home
Zine documenting public phone boxes within a 2 kilometre radius of my home. What conversations have coursed through those phone wires, particularly over a deadly pandemic.

Caution | Fragile
I started these gouaches before Covid but as the lockdowns rolled on my sense of isolation and loneliness deepened. I revisited and reworked these images, like picking at an old wound.

Looking Inwards Whilst Looking Out Looking In
Déjà vu, been here before. Lockdowns 1, 2, 3 and now 4. Dining out, Banned! Walking with more than one other person who doesn’t live in your house, Banned! You can’t get married the normal way, You can’t be buried the normal way.

Gnarly Trees
Gnarly trees near me.
With twisted limbs shaped by time and weather. They stand as rough monuments, stubborn against decay. The bark splits, roots grip deep, branches sprawl into tangled silhouettes.

Lost - Currumbin
How much did it take to lose my moral compass and fly? The chaos and flooding caused by Cyclone Alfred made it impossible to get to the Currumbin Valley any other way. I returned to Melbourne via the Three Sisters only to find them lost in the weather too.

Bowral
My AI prompt was: “Bradman playing cricket outside the Don Bradman Museum in Bowral. AI told me it couldn’t generate such an image as Bradman was dead and therefore couldn’t play cricket.

Halls Gap
The gap between the image AI generated of Halls Gap and what Halls Gap is actually like was not great.

Glasshouse Mountains
Public transport throws you into humanity’s washing machine. This trip started with a bus replacement due to a fatality on the line. Everybody hurts. I thought of all the families and friends of all affected.

Kyneton
My rather vague prompt to AI was “the Macedon Rangers in illustrative style”. AI responded with an equally vague assortment of images.

I revisited them on a very, very, very frosty morning in June 2025.

Byron Bay
AI generated an image of half a horse, half an Aztec warrior and half a red caped figure beside a road leading to the lighthouse. Was the partial red caped figure eluding to Thor, God of BB?

Adelaide
When googling Adelaide tourist attractions, it mentions Adelaide being known as the city of churches. It also suggests imbibing in a refreshment beneath the tree martins roosting in Leigh Street, but evidently Adelaideans the had other ideas.

Canberra
Whilst crossing the median strip of Commonwealth Avenue, the main Avenue leading to Parliament House in Canberra I came across heaps of rabbits that had colonised the whole area. The irony did not escape me.

Ararat
This painting, done by my Great Aunt Eileen Ryan, was for decades stored high on a shelf in an old tea chest in my father’s garage. I found it after he passed away but never considered where it depicted until recently driving through Ararat.

Castlemaine
I thought AI had added the unwanted shape of a phallic like cypress tree centrally into the composition. As 30% of internet content is porn I was not surprised. But when I saw this chimney I realised what it was eluding to.
